There are a few signs that fall is coming to Oklahoma: football is back, mornings finally start cooling down, and suddenly everyone is talking about what they're going to eat at the Oklahoma State Fair.

The 2026 Oklahoma State Fair returns to Oklahoma City September 17–27, bringing 11 days of carnival rides, fair food, livestock, live entertainment, competitions, exhibits and Oklahoma traditions to OKC Fair Park.

Whether you go every year or you're planning your first visit, here's what you need to know before heading to the Oklahoma State Fair 2026.

Public activities begin at 10 a.m. daily.

Building hours are generally:

Sunday–Thursday: 10 a.m.–9 p.m.
Friday–Saturday: 10 a.m.–10 p.m.

Outdoor vendors remain open slightly later, and carnival opening times vary by day.

Thursday, September 17 — Thrifty Thursday

Opening day admission is $10 at the gate, children 5 and younger are free, and ride-all-day carnival armbands are $25.

Monday, September 21 — Military Monday 🇺🇸

Active-duty military members, retirees, veterans and their spouses receive FREE outside gate admission with military ID.

Tuesday, September 22 — Taste of the Fair Tuesday

This may be the day for my fellow fair-food people.

Admission is $4, participating food vendors offer special $4 food items, and there are additional $4 Fair specials.

Wednesday, September 23 — Senior Day

Guests 55 and older receive FREE outside gate admission with ID. A free accessibility shuttle will also operate from the Hurricane Harbor parking lot, with limited parking available for the service.

Thursday, September 24 — Thrifty Thursday + College Day

General gate admission is $10, children 5 and younger are free, and ride-all-day armbands are $25.

College students can show a valid college ID for $5 gate admission.

We all know someone who goes for the rides.

We also know someone who goes almost entirely for the food.

The Fair's 2026 Food Finder currently lists everything from classic sweet and savory favorites to dozens of new items and deep-fried creations.

You can even filter the Food Finder by New, Deep-Fried, Sweet, Savory, Specialty Drinks, Little Book of BIG DEALS, and Taste of the Fair Tuesday.

One of the best tips I can give you: look at the Food Finder before you go.

Otherwise, you'll fill up on the first thing you see and discover something you really wanted approximately 12 minutes later.

🎠 Carnival Rides & Fair Fun

Of course, you can't talk about the Oklahoma State Fair without talking about the midway.

Carnival opening times vary:

Monday: 11 a.m.
Tuesday–Friday: 1 p.m.
Saturday–Sunday: 11 a.m.

Closing times are determined by Fair management.

If you're taking kids or you're the adult who refuses to leave without riding the big wheel. Check carnival pricing and armband options before your visit.

🎪 What's New & What Can You See in 2026?

There's much more happening than rides and food.

The 2026 Fair entertainment lineup includes Jurassic Bark Live, featuring rescue dogs and prehistoric-themed fun; the new Yo Ho Ho! Hypnosis Show; All Star Pro live wrestling; animal races; the Piccolo Zoppe Circus; live music and other performances throughout the Fair.

There are also livestock and equine competitions, creative arts, exhibits, demonstrations and plenty of Oklahoma agriculture on display.

And if you're bringing Disney fans, **Disney On Ice presents Jump In! ** is scheduled for multiple performances at the OG&E Coliseum during the Fair.

👨‍👩‍👧 Parents: Know the Youth Attendance Policy

This is important if you're sending teenagers to the Fair.

Guests under age 18 must be accompanied after 5 p.m. by a parent/legal guardian or a chaperone who is at least 25 years old.

An eligible adult may accompany up to five minors and must remain at the Fair while those minors are there. ID may be required.

Keep that one in mind before dropping everyone off for the evening.

🚗 Before You Head to OKC Fair Park

A little planning makes Fair day much easier.

Buy admission ahead of time if it makes sense for your visit, check the daily schedule, decide which shows you want to see, and screenshot or save anything you'll need before arriving.

And wear comfortable shoes.

Why the Oklahoma State Fair Is Such an Oklahoma Tradition

For me, events like this are part of what makes living in Oklahoma special.

Yes, there are rides and ridiculous foods we probably shouldn't ask the calorie count of.

But there are also 4-H and livestock exhibits, local performers, Oklahoma businesses, agriculture, families making memories, and traditions that get passed from one generation to the next.

That's something I love about Oklahoma.
